You are here: Performance Analysis  >  Torque Test

Power = Force x Velocity. Applied to cycling this means that power results from torque (rotational force) multiplied by cadence. Thus, the greater the force on the pedals, the higher the power. How high is your dynamic strength level and what is your optimal cadence? The torque test provides these answers.

The torque test lasts 30 minutes and uses the SRM-ergometer set in the isokinetic mode i.e. rotation speed dependent mode. The athlete is required to provide maximal power for 10 seconds with tests at 50, 70, 90, 110, and 130 revolutions per minute. Three-minute recovery / relaxation breaks are taken between each test. The firmly predetermined cadence is electronically controlled – the power is measured directly at the crank.

The results provide you with your individual torque curve which shows a similarity to an engine test at which “rpm” you can reach the highest pedal force.
